Camp Adore & a New Ministry

CAMP ADORE | THANK YOU

Each summer, Heather Kid leads a camp here at the parish for children. It’s amazing.

The week is full of prayer, song, and sports, all centered on our Catholic Faith. Each day begins with the children joining the community for 9AM Daily Mass before making their way to activities that prepare them for teachings on the spiritual life. They move about in small groups led by devout teen and adult leaders, learning from their personal witness. And they’re given the chance to reflect and share with one another over meals.

At the heart of the camp is Eucharistic Adoration. Heather would have it no other way. It is her unswerving desire that the high point of each day be gathering the children into the church for Benediction. That’s why she calls it Camp Adore. Once all the groups are together, Amy Keller and I lead the children in prayer and song through praise and worship and reflection in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Heather wants each child to return home knowing that Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist - and they do.

SAFETY AND SECURITY | NEW MINISTRY

Aware of the challenges in our world, heightened safety concerns about the contentious culture, and the large crowds that gather here each weekend, the Pastoral Staff and I believe it is time to establish a safety and security ministry.

Here’s the vision: in addition to our ushers, trained men will be stationed at the entrances during the weekend Masses. Each member will have completed a safety familiarization course, including CPR certification. They will work in communication with one another to keep an eye on things during the Mass, and to promote a sense of safety and comfort for all of you.

The ministry will be led by Tony Biancardi (seen here with his wife, Janice). He is a retired police officer and has co-led The Way for Men alongside me.
